I wonder about Ken

She ties her curls in plastic swirls and
goes off to the gym’
and him,
sat there like a labrador,
she,
thinks him, just a bore
and looks for something better
someone more
than Ken.

But Ken is worldly-wise
and understands her torments
understands the lies,
knows that when she ties her hair in curls
she’s not out with the office girls,

yet he sits behind the kitchen door and waits
for her return.

I wonder about Ken.
