Watching from the tower

Who
in their wildest imagination
could foresee the population
in a lockdown situation?

I see blue skies
with no vapour trails
vast oceans
bereft of sails
and snails
because
it’s quite damp outside.

Realism has a habit of creeping in
but fantasy when times are grim
is one of life’s little pleasures.
