In the mill town

In the mill town
lockdown is no different
to any other day
except for Sunday.

And when we get to reach our majority
we then become a minority
because the votes have all been rigged.

twenty one
is just a number
that they pluck out
of thin air.

For each of us and every mother’s son
we’re just the contract that they write upon

and twenty one is just a number
at the bottom of a page.

‘Quit yer griping’
said the foreman
who doubles as the undertaker

we’ll make a man out of yer yet.
